WTF???

Well I was all ready to take this thing out on the water and I knew things were too good to be true. The engine(I told you we'd get to that) was replaced somewhere down the 20 year line of this vessel, the carburator was not. The Rochester Q-Jet was leaking like a siv. The plunger tube, base gasket, Overall it was a mess, that didn't rear it's ugly head until after trade. I had it rebuilt, but also decided to swap it out for a Edelbrock 1410. Success!!! Not the Q-Jet is on Ebay freshly rebuilt with a one year warranty for the new owner.

The old Q-jet is on top, If you couldn't tell.

I had to use a spreadbore to squarebore adapter, and lengthen the fuel line, and modifiy the shifter bracket, but you know, that's just regular crap that comes up.

The engine is a 4.3L Vortech Circa 96+

Speaking of speakers

I had to do something about the sound system, or lack thereof. I didn't want to spend a lot of money though. I decided to be a cheap bastard on the stereo install and use some of the componentsI had laying around already. I bought a Dual Cd/MP3/win media/Ipod interface deck and an add on Sirius unit for the head system.  I went to Wally and bought some Dual 6.5's allthough not "marine" speakers, they were $20 a pair so........ Yep 2 pair, and a 6.5 bazooka tube I had from a previous install. overall it sounds pretty damn good and LOUD. With that done, I called my buddy over, who works for a local customizer. He does tinting, so naturally I had to have him tint my boat.  I don't plan on doing any night boating so I went for it.  I think it looks good on the boat, as far as functionality, well we will have to see. I think this in combination with a good bimini top will provide some pretty good sun protection.

The day we got it

Jan 20 2007.
I traded my 400EX quad for this 18' Reinell fish/ski.  The boat came with an updated engine(96 4.3L Vortech Chevy. More on that later), canvas cover, bimini top, 40lb thrust Minn Kota, Fish/depth finder, 3 batteries, and of course the trailer. Pretty clean for a 20 year old boat.  Out of all the things that came with the boat, it sure had a sad sound system....For about a week
